  About SFCAHT

 Human Slavery

The San Francisco Collaborative Against Human Trafficking is committed to ending human trafficking through collaboration, education, outreach, advocacy, and supporting survivors of human trafficking by taking a zero tolerance stance on exploitation, violence, and human trafficking.

The Collaborative envisions a local and global community that fully comprehends the value of each human life and abhors any practice that denies a person her or his right to live a life free from violence, exploitation, or slavery. To ensure this vision becomes a reality for San Francisco and beyond, The Collaborative is committed to preventing human trafficking, prosecuting traffickers, and protecting survivors of human trafficking by building a strong group of anti-trafficking advocates and experts in San Francisco.

The Collaborative launched in January 2010 with a membership of over 20 agencies representing a broad array of nongovernmental organizations, government agencies, law enforcement agencies, service providers, educators, and community members.

 What is Human Trafficking?

The 13th amendment of the U.S. Constitution abolished slavery in 1865. Until then, slavery was legal and openly practiced in the United States. Times have changed so much since the Abolitionist movement that many in this country do not realize that slavery persists internationally, nationally and in the City of San Francisco. Modern slavery comes in the form of human trafficking and forced labor.

How to Get Involved

There are many ways that you can become involved with SFCAHT or one of our partners:

  • Stay informed about SFCAHT:
    • EnvelopeGet added to our mailing list: To receive notices of upcoming public events sponsored by SFCAHT or by our partners, and to stay informed about anti-human trafficking efforts in San Francisco, email Linda Janourova and you will be added to our mailing list.
    •  Join our network on Facebook: Facebook Logo
  • Agencies may be eligible for membership: SFCAHT is defining its membership criteria and application process this spring. Agencies currently working to end human trafficking or support survivors of trafficking that would like to join the Collaborative can check back soon for more information about how to join SFCAHT.
  • Donate your services: SFCAHT frequently needs printing of flyers, space for events, etc., and community support is needed to keep this un-funded Collaborative going strong.  If you would like to donate your services, please contact Linda Janourova (contact information below).
  • Volunteer with one of our partners: Take a look at the Directory of Services for Survivors of Human Trafficking to find an agency you may want to volunteer for. Each agency has its own protocols for screening and selecting volunteers, a necessary facet of work with this vulnerable community. Contact the agencies directly for details about their various volunteer opportunities.  Currently, no volunteer or internship positions exist with the Collaborative itself, so please contact agencies directly for volunteer information.
